Light.
Bright. White. Light.
Ash’s eyes snapped open, bringing intense pain, making him close them again and put his hands up for protection. A sharp ache bored through his skull and he lay still, trying to remember where he was.
For a moment his mind was blank, then his stomach heaved as an image leapt into his head. He had been at Dad’s funeral – all those black suits and sad faces. People he hardly knew, talking about what a good bloke Ben McCarthy had been.

About the book

Kidnapped and drugged, Ash wakes up on a remote tropical island. His mum – a genetic scientist – has been imprisoned and infected with a deadly virus.

Where is he, and what’s he doing there? He sets out to cross the jungle to find out and rescue his mother. Soon he realises he’s quicker and sharper than before. But there’s something else ... why are the animals watching him, and how can he use the jungle to his advantage?

The new novel from the author of Big Game – now a major movie starring Samuel L. Jackson.

Author notes

'The jungle can be a scary place. I know – I’ve been there. But I wanted it to be really scary for my hero, Ash McCarthy, so I created a jungle on a mysterious island, where everything is bigger and more dangerous than it should be. Then I gave him just twenty-four hours to cross the island and save the world. The result is a story that needs exclamation marks ... Danger! Action! Adventure! Survival!'
