WOW – what a year! We asked for ideas, creativity and talent and we certainly weren’t disappointed. We received a wealth of incredible stories from talented writers based all over the world. THANK YOU. But also, you’ve made it SO HARD to choose our tenth anniversary long list!

Our final twenty titles really does represent the crème-de-la-crème – these books have beaten off stiff competition to earn their place on the list. There’s a huge diversity of content here, with spy stories, epic fantasy adventures, steampunk and historical tales all rubbing shoulders and jostling for position. So without further ado, I’m delighted to reveal the longlist for the tenth Times/Chicken House Children’s Fiction Competition ...

The Corn Maiden by Kerry Fleming
