Lydia: The Wild Girl of Pride & Prejudice is published today!

It seems like only last week we announced that we’d bought superstar author Natasha Farrant’s Pride & Prejudice-inspired Lydia: The Wild Girl of Pride & Prejudice – and today it’s published! Natasha has created a stunning reimagining of one of the best-known English novels, told from the perspective of the most divisive Bennet sister, Lydia – love her or hate her (although I defy you not to want her to be your best friend after reading this), Lydia is a truly modern girl in the age of Austen.

Lydia is the youngest Bennet sister and she’s sick of country life – instead of sewing and reading, she longs for adventure. When a red-coated garrison arrives in Merryton, Lydia’s life turns upside down. As she falls for dashing Wickham, she’s swept into a whirlwind social circle and deposited in a seaside town, Brighton. Sea-bathing, promenades and scandal await – and a pair of intriguing twins. Can Lydia find out what she really wants – and can she get it?

Natasha has created a story that weaves in and around the original text, interspersing elements of the novel we know and love with new twists and turns – and showing us what really happened when Lydia ran off to Brighton and eloped with the dashing Wickham. An absolutely incomparable character with lashings of wit and a unique voice, Lydia is strong willed and determined – you’ll instantly fall in love with her.
