Hey, it’s May!

Yippee! Anyone off for a summer holiday yet? No, me neither. Never mind: instead, we’ve got two incredible titles lined up for your reading pleasure. Both of these books are genuinely special and unforgettable – not that we’re biased, or anything …

BIGFOOT, TOBIN & ME

This heart-warming adventure about friendship and overcoming grief is by a brand new talent to watch. Melissa Savage, a paediatric grief counsellor, has perfectly captured the burgeoning of a sweet friendship between a grieving child and her new detective pal. At once adventurous, funny and full of wisdom, we think this novel is perfectly huggable.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.

Despite being named after her mum’s favourite saying, there isn’t much for Lemonade Witt to look forward to since her mother died – especially now she has moved to the wilds of Willow Creek. Here, she meets an annoying boy called Tobin who, as head of Bigfoot Detectives Inc., is obsessed with finding the legendary beast. Reluctantly, she joins him in search of the elusive creature – but what they find instead is even better . . .

THE ISLAND AT THE END OF EVERYTHING

You just *might* have heard that our fabulous author, Kiran Millwood Hargrave, has won the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize with her bestselling novel The Girl of Ink & Stars …? Well, we’re totally over the moon about it! Now, we’re ridiculously proud and excited to be publishing her second standalone novel. The book itself is stunning (we do love a couple of flaps!) and the novel has all the trademark poetry, wonder and lyricism of Kiran’s work. A story of homecoming with a heart of butterflies, we think this is utterly irresistible.

Ami lives with her sick mother on an island where the sea is as blue as the sky. It’s all she knows and loves, but the arrival of a cruel government official, Mr Zamora, changes her world for ever. Her island is to become a colony for sufferers of leprosy. Banished to an orphanage across the water, Ami meets a honey-eyed girl named for butterflies, and together they set out to find a way back home to the island at the end of everything.
